Serving the World with Better Food Has Never Meant More

At Nomad Foods, our purpose to serve the world with better food has never felt more meaningful than it does today. The role of quality food and mealtimes has been essential in providing comfort and stability to our everyday lives as we navigate this global health crisis together.

Since the start of this pandemic, our key priorities have been the health and safety of our employees and the uninterrupted supply of frozen food to grocery stores across Europe. We acted early and decisively to implement new policies and procedures in our factories, including high-frequency cleaning, reorganized common spaces and social distancing measures. We are proud to have kept each of our 13 factories open and operational, ensuring that our communities continue to have access to brands they trust with food that is great tasting, high quality and nutritious.

Our factory colleagues deserve special thanks and appreciation for their incredible work. They have been heroes in this effort and have collectively risen to this challenge to ensure that people across Europe can continue to depend on our beloved brands.

We are taking an active role to help the communities most affected by the spread of COVID-19. We have created a €3 million fund that will provide monetary and food donations to local humanitarian and healthcare organizations. To date, we have announced the following contributions:

  • In Italy, we have announced a €1 million donation to the National Institute for Infectious Diseases "Lazarus Spallanzani" in Rome. Our support will fund research to develop international networking models for the surveillance and management of the epidemic with the aim of achieving increasingly personalized treatment responses. Part of the funding will go toward the purchase of protective medical facilities that will provide immediate support in the fight against the virus.
  • In Spain, our products have been donated to Federación Española de Bancos de Alimentos (FESBAL – Spanish Federation of Food Banks) to help feed communities most affected by the pandemic.
  • In the United Kingdom, the donation has been shared equally between GroceryAid, FareShare UK and The Trussell Trust. It will provide vital financial and logistics support and help to keep food banks topped up.
  • In Norway, we have donated NOK 1 million and our products to Matsentralen, an Oslo-based food center that redistributes food surplus to non-profit organizations serving those most in need.
  • In France we reinforced our existing partnership with Les Restos du Coeur, a major charity organization providing food and assistance to those most in need. Nomad donated 150T of various products, the equivalent of 300,000 meals.

As the leading frozen food company in Europe, we take our role in society seriously. Our brands helped pioneer the industry and have had a place at the heart of family life for many generations. We remain committed to serving our communities and helping everyone get through this in whatever way we can. As we always have, Nomad Foods will continue to serve the world with better food.
